This is one of the proudest areas of my life. The military has been with me since my husband and I were dating in high school, over 10 years now. Wow, that seems unreal. The fact that there are men and women out there willing to risk their lives for me when we have never met is pretty awesome. The best part about it is they think it’s not a big deal, talk to most soldiers and they don’t think twice about what they are doing. I’m in awe each time I have the opportunity to attend a military ball or family event with my husband at the sheer unselfishness of these men and women. The respect and team mentality they have because it’s necessary is unbelievable. Let me tell you soldiers what you are doing day in and day out, whether you are a Veteran, a reservist, currently deployed or serving in any way, what you are doing is a big deal.
And if you’re a family member waiting patiently or impatiently at home right now, don’t you believe the lie for one second that your aren’t important. When my husband is gone James 1:2 is one of my favorite places to go for encouragement:
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
